From left to right: Shirley; her mother, Minnie Cohen Gelman; her aunt Channa Cohen Levine (Minnie's sister); and Lena Uberstine Caine. Lena was Shirley's aunt, having married Meyer, the brother of Minnie and Channa. (Lena may well have been named for her grandfather, Lazar Elia, as were the first born of Mayer's sister, Toby, and Mayer's brother, Harris.) |
