Lila believes her mother's beautiful white graduation dress with the dropped waistline was made for her by Grandfather Louis. "Mother could show him something she wanted in a department store, and he would come home with his tailor's chalk and draw it on newspaper," Lila said. "He had a large Singer sewing machine in the living room, which he used to do all the sewing for my mother and for my sister and myself. He made Anita and me capes of navy blue gabardine with a collar. ... My mother was very sharp. Before she met Henry Glatt, she worked for a brokerage firm."
