Cousins Plus Reunion '97 |

"I liked having the bodies of Bruce and Michael-David on either
side of me," said Jerry Rubenstein, reflecting on the Cousins Plus reunion some
months later. It was the middle of August, 1997, when sixteen family members found themselves together in Asheville, North Carolina, for a family reunion. "Asheville is centrally located to a lot of fun stuff to do," said Jan BenDor, certain that's why it was chosen by reunion planner Robin Rubenstein Poer of Carrboro, North Carolina, in consultation with Bruce Rogers, of Nashville, Tennessee. |
Lots of choices of things to do
"We wanted to be
flexible, and let what happens happen," Robin said. "We had lots of idea and
choices, so people could chose what they wanted to do." There was the Blue Ridge Parkway, where the group paused on one of the many scenic overlooks to pose en masse for a photo op. Looking Glass Falls was another highlight, and Sliding Rock Park proved so much fun that the group made it a must-do destination both Saturday and Sunday. A dinner party at the Trevi Italian Restaurant and an afternoon at the Biltmore Estate rounded out the planned events. The pool takeoverSaturday afternoon, the reunion centered on the motel pool. "We pretty much intimidated all the rest of the people at the motel from going near the pool," said Jan, pointing out this was possible with a group of 16. |
