Glockner branch nuptial

07-AleckFrieda300w299h-17k Aleck Glockner, son of Cherla Uberstine Glockner and Nathan Glockner, married Freida Simon in Albany, New York, on February 26, 1938.

They met in Albany, where Freida was living and where Aleck's parents had made their home.  However, Aleck had gone into business in Ogdensburg, New York, which was 225 miles from Albany.  Twice Aleck was in accidents en route to visit Freida.  By this time, Aleck had proposed marriage, and they had agreed to marry the following summer.

As Aleck's oldest son, Marvin, tells the story:  "My mother's relatives said that she had better marry my father before he kills himself traveling to see her."  And that's why they married in February and not June.
