Born in 1868, Mayer Uberstine grew to adulthood in the age of wagons.  The only personal detail passed down by his grandson, Elliott, concerns his strength:

"He could lift a wagon wheel over his head," Elliott said.  Mayer passed away in the Bronx, NY, on January 18, 1948.
